Soft top cannot be operated or has stopped somewhere in the sequence. SID shows message SOFT TOP FAILURE.Condition
Soft top can be operated in short movements and each sequence must be started with the switches in a position that corresponds to the movement pattern.Diagnostic procedure
Start fault diagnosis by checking the oil level (MIN - MAX) and continue by checking if the soft top mechanism functions normally by operating the soft top by hand.| - |
Check that the emergency operation valve is securely closed.

Check using the diagnostics tool that the switches respective test values correspond with the position of the soft top.

Check that the soft top can be moved smoothly without resistance, that the hydraulic cylinders move and that they are securely mounted.

Soft top can be operated in short movements and each sequence must be started with the switches in a position that corresponds to the movement pattern.
The diagnostic trouble code is generated if this is not the case, often other diagnostic trouble codes will appear and these must be tended to first. If the diagnostic trouble code B1865 does not remain after the final check, the problem has been solved.
In cases where B1865 appears alone, check the test values for the soft top switches to see that they are reasonable.
Checking wiring harness
Intermittent faults can exist during temporary short circuits and open circuits. Wiggle the wiring harness at several points and in different directions to discover problems in the wiring harness and connectors. Observe the multimeter, diagnostic tool or the test lamp during checking.
