Temperature

The temperature is connected via a control wire to the air-mixing damper. At each end position, the temperature control is locked by a mechanism to prevent the knob from springing back and creating the wrong temperature.

On cars equipped with A/C, there is a switch for the solenoid valve, shut-off valve heat exchanger on the back of the temperature control knob for some markets.

Air distribution

The air distribution control knob is connected directly to the air distribution damper in the climate housing via a control shaft. The control knob is provided with clearly indicated locking positions to ensure locking in the correct air distribution position.

The air distribution damper directs the air to the positions for defroster, panel or floor. The knob on the control panel can also be set between the three main positions. The air is then distributed between the defroster and floor or between the panel and floor.

Fan

The control knob is connected to a switch with five locked positions. One position for fan off and positions 1-4 for fan speeds. The switch is connected to a fan resistor with resistors that limit the power to the fan according to selected fan speed.

Air recirculation

The button activates a direct current motor that turns the air recirculation flap. The flap only has two positions.

When the motor has turned the recirculation flap to one of the end positions, the power through the motor is restricted to prevent overheating and damaging the motor.

In the air recirculation position, the system does not allow any incoming air into the cabin and recirculates the old air.

Electrically heated rear window and door mirrors

The button shifts between electrically heated rear window and door mirrors on and off.

When the switch is activated a B+ pulse is sent to DICE which grounds the electrically heated rear window and the relay for the door mirrors. An LED indicates whether the electrically heated rear window and door mirrors are turned on.

A/C

If the ventilation fan is operating and the button is pressed in, B+ is supplied from pin 2 to DICE.

DICE requests A/C engagement from the engine management system. Note that DICE has several blocking conditions for the A/C function.
