Environmental precautions

Prevent from spreading or entering into drains, ditches or rivers by using sand, earth or other appropriate barriers. Do not empty into drains.

Methods for cleaning up

Scrape up and place in a lockable container. Absorb with an inert absorbent material, such as sand, kieselguhr, sawdust or similar.

NOTE: The spilled product produces an extremely slippery surface.

Storage instructions

Do not store with oxidizing agents. Keep container closed and store away from water or moisture. Good ventilation in storage premises recommended.

10. STABILITY AND REACTIVITY

Stability

Stable under normal conditions.

Reacts with

Can react with strong oxidizing agents.

Hazardous decomposition products

Silica. Carbon dioxide and traces of incompletely combusted carbon compounds. Toxic vapours from fluorine compounds. Metal products. Nitrogen oxides. Heating the product to above 150°C can liberate small amounts of formaldehyde.

Other information

Formaldehyde vapour, which can be liberated at high temperatures, is harmful by inhalation and irritating to eyes and respiratory system at breathing concentration less than 1 ppm.



11. TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION

Inhalation

No adverse effects are normally expected. Formaldehyde vapour, which can be liberated at temperatures above 150 degrees, is harmful by inhalation and irritating to eyes and respiratory system at breathing concentration less than 1 ppm.

Skin

Repeated or prolonged contact may cause defatting of the skin, leading to dermatitis.

Eyes

Mildly irritating.

Ingestion

Small quantities transferred from the hands to the mouth are not harmful. If swallowed, large quantities may cause nausea.



12. ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION

Degradability

The organic components contained in the product are biodegradable, however they are not classified as readily biodegradable. Organic solvents may evaporate into the atmosphere, where they degrade.

Ecotoxicity

This product contains substances which may cause adverse effects in the aquatic environment. Do not empty this product into drains, the ground, watercourses or water supplies.
