Ignition switch in the OFF position.

Slide the seat forward as far as it will go.
|
|
| 3. |
Detach the scuff plates on the rear and front doors (secured with clips).
|

Remove the door seal strips round the B-pillar.
|
|
| 5. |
Remove the seat belt fixing in the front seat by pressing the clip with a curved screwdriver, see drawing showing dimensions.

Remove the air vent grating (snap fasteners).
|
|
| 7. |
Remove the upper, inner pillar trim (which is secured with snap fasteners) by taking hold of the trim at its upper edge and pulling cautiously down, at the same time carefully bending the fasteners with a screwdriver.

Withdraw the seat belt through the hole in the cover.
|
|
| 9. |
Detach the lower part of the pillar trim (which is secured with clips).
|
|
| 10. |
Detach the upper, outer part of the pillar trim (which is secured with clips).
|

| 11. |
Remove the plate of the belt adjuster by undoing the screw at the upper edge and guiding the plate out at the lower edge.

Remove the belt guide.
|

| 13. |
Unplug the connector from the belt tensioner.
|
|
| 14. |
Remove the two screws of the inertia reel.
|
|
| 15. |
Guide the inertia reel and the belt tensioner out.

| To fit |
Re-fitting is done in the reverse order. First fit a new belt with belt tensioner and plug the connector in to the belt tensioner. Run a check using the diagnostic tool as follows.
Switch the ignition on and connect the diagnostic tool to the diagnostic socket under the dashboard. Clear any diagnostic trouble codes that may be present.
Turn the ignition off and on again. Wait at least 10 seconds with the ignition on.
Check whether a diagnostic trouble code is shown.
If a diagnostic trouble code is shown:
Carry out the relevant fault diagnosis as described under the respective DTC.
If no diagnostic trouble code is shown:
Re-fit the items you have removed.
Tightening torques:
Retaining screws of the inertia reel. 45 Nm (33 lbf ft)
Upper retaining screw of the adjustment plate. 24 Nm (18 lbf ft)
