Emergency operation of electric seat

Emergency operation when removing electric seat

If the electric operation does not work, the seat can not be adjusted lengthwise so that it is possible to reach the retaining bolts. A tool must then be used to move the seat manually.

1. Raise the seat to its highest position.

2. Remove the seat side panel.

Note

Electrically adjustable seat: The front bolt has a protector on its tip. Retain this protector as it must be fitted to the bolt to prevent it from chafing against electrical wiring.

3. Remove the bevel gear, which drives the seat lengthwise, 2 Torx 30 screws. Hold the shaft protruding from the other side of the seat frame and pull out the gear.

4. Dismantle the bevel gear, 2 or 3 Torx 20 screws.

5. Press in the lock clip for the plastic bush and pull out the shaft. Wipe off grease from the dismantled shaft.

6. Fit special tool 75 19 531 Protective collar on the gear wheel and secure it with a suitable hose clip.

7. Press a screwdriver, the largest possible, into the other end of the hose so that the screwdriver blade reaches the end of the shaft. Secure it with a hose clip as far from the screwdriver handle as possible.

8. Fit the “tool” on the shaft and turn the screwdriver to operate the seat and access the retaining bolts.

Note

Moving the seat will be made easier by pushing the seat backwards or forwards as necessary.
