To remove



1. Raise the car and remove the wheels.

2. Press the brake piston back using a pair of slip-joint pliers.

3. Remove the pins and keep the retaining spring.

4. Remove the brake pads. If they seize, use the removal tool for brake pads. See 89 95 771 Removal tool, brake pad .


5. Clean the surfaces where the brake pads are in contact with the brake caliper. Use a soft metal brush. Also check the dust caps.


To fit



1. Grease the sliding surfaces on the brake pads with copper grease.

2. Fit the new brake pads in the brake caliper.

3. Fit the retaining spring and the pins.

4. Fit the wheel. See Wheels .

Tightening torque 110 Nm (81 lbf ft)

5. Lower the car and depress the brake pedal to press out the brake pistons. Adjust the brake fluid level.
