4. FIRST AID MEASURES

General

Never give an unconscious person anything to drink or eat.

Inhalation

Move the casualty into fresh air. Keep the person calm and under observation. Seek medical advice if necessary. In case of serious exposure, use suitable respiratory equipment when moving the casualty out of the danger zone. Place an unconscious casualty in the recovery position and keep warm. Seek immediate medical advice and show this product information.

5. FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES

Suitable extinguishing media

Extinguish with powder, carbon dioxide or film-forming foam.

Fire and explosion risks

Fluids can liberate vapours that can ignite at or above the flash point. The product can accumulate static electricity, which can produce sparks that cause ignition.

Other information

Move and/or cool with water containers in the vicinity of fire.

6. SPILLAGE/ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES

General information

Observe the risk of ignition and explosion. Stop the leakage if this is possible without danger. Inform the emergency services if the substance has entered watercourses or drains or polluted soil and vegetation. Consult an expert on the disposal of waste and make sure to follow local regulations.

Methods for cleaning up

Stop the leakage if this is possible without danger. Inform the emergency services if the substance has entered watercourses or drains or polluted soil and vegetation. Consult an expert on the disposal of waste and make sure to follow local regulations.

Spillage and cleaning up

Confine the spilt fluid with absorbent material.

7. HANDLING AND STORAGE

Special properties and risks

Avoid mixing with strong oxidizing agents such as calcium hypochlorite, nitric acid and hydrogen peroxide.

Handling regulations

Flammable fluid, class 1.

Storage

Follow the regulations of SÄIFS 1981:2 for class 1 flammable fluids. Keep away from sources of ignition - No smoking. Keep away from strong oxidizing agents. Storage materials to avoid: aluminium packaging.

8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION

Limit

300 ppm (1000 mg/m 3 )

(Occupational exposure limits according to provisions of the Swedish National Board of Occupational Safety and Health (AFS) 1993:9)

General advice

The use and choice of personal protection equipment is related to the hazardous properties of the product, the workplace and the methods used for handling the product. As a general, minimum recommendation, we recommend the use of protective goggles with side shields and work clothes that cover the arms, legs and body. In addition, all who visit the workplace in which the product is handled or used should wear protective goggles.

Control procedures

Use explosion-proof electrical equipment. Ensure adequate ventilation. Mechanical ventilation and spot extraction may be necessary. Provisions for eye flushing should be provided at the workplace. Never mix the product with other substances without prior knowledge of this being hazardless. No smoking, naked flames, welding or sparks. Avoid spray mist and pouring from a height. Always use explosion-proof electrical equipment.

Respiratory equipment

When the concentration in the air can exceed the limits specified in this section, we recommend the use of a half-face filter mask to protect against over exposure by inhalation.

Eye protection

Protective goggles in case of risk of splashes into the eyes.

Hand protection

Protective gloves in case of risk of skin dryness/cracking.
