3. HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION

Oxime curing silicones release vapours of methyl ethyl ketoxime in contact with moisture. Methyl ethyl ketoxime is irritating to the eyes and respiratory system.

4. FIRST AID MEASURES

Inhalation

Remove affected person to fresh air. By-products released during polymerisation may cause irritation to respiratory system.

Skin

Wash immediately with soap and water.

Eyes

Flush eyes immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Volatile by-products released during polymerisation may cause irritation to eyes.

Ingestion

Rinse mouth with water then give plenty of water to drink. Do not induce vomiting.

5. FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES

Suitable extinguishing media

Non-flammable product (flash point >100°C). If product is involved in fire extinguish with dry powder, foam or carbon dioxide.

Fire/Explosions risks

No unusual fire hazards.

6. SPILLAGE/ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES

Personal precautions

Ventilate area. Silicones release by-products in contact with moisture which are irritating to eyes and respiratory system.

Methods for cleaning up

Wash spillage site thoroughly with soap and water or detergent solution.

7. HANDLING AND STORAGE

Advice for safe handling

Use in a well-ventilated area. Vapours should be extracted to avoid inhalation.

Storage instructions

No special storage conditions required. Keep in a cool, well-ventilated area.

8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION

Skin protection

In case of repeated or prolonged skin contact, wear suitable gloves made of polyethene, natural rubber or similar ester-resistant material.

Hygiene

Good industrial hygiene practices should be observed.

This product is considered to be of low toxicity. Acute oral (rat) > 2000 mg/kg.

12. ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION

Storage

Keep away from water and drains.

Ecotoxicity

Does not contain any substances listed on the Montreal protocol. Cured Loctite products are typical polymers and do not pose any immediate environmental hazards.

Other information

Biological and chemical oxygen demands (BOD and COD) of cured Loctite products are insignificant. Precautions required with respect to environmental hazards of articles in which this product is used should be considered.

13. DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS

Disposal considerations

After use, packaging containing residual product should be disposed of as "chemically contaminated waste" in accordance with local and national legislation and regulations. Incinerate or bury waste" in accordance with local and national legislation and regulations. Dispose of in accordance with local and national regulations. Large quantities of unused products may be disposed as chemical waste after polymerizing. Contribution of this product to waste is very insignificant in comparison to articles in which it is used.
