Changing the VIN plate

If the VIN plate is destroyed in a collision or during repair of a damaged car, the garage can order a replacement plate from the Safety and Regulatory Affairs department.

Address:

Saab Automobile AB

Safety and Regulatory Affairs - TGL

461 80 TROLLHÄTTAN

SWEDEN

Principally, a replacement plate will only be issued to authorised Saab garages.

Safety and Regulatory Affairs will order a replacement plate from Production Planning and request the garage to send in the damaged one.

Once Safety and Regulatory Affairsy has received the damaged plate, it will be destroyed and the replacement plate will be sent in a secure manner to the garage.

The following will be required if it is not possible to return the damaged plate to Safety and Regulatory Affairs:

- A certificate from the police confirming that the plate is missing and that the car has not been stolen or scrapped.

- A certificate from the Saab garage indicating that the VIN stamped in the body is the same as the one in the registration documents and describing how the plate was lost.

This matter is registered at Safety and Regulatory Affairs and a copy of the letter in which the Saab garage acknowledges receipt of the replace plate will be filed.

This procedure is to ensure that Saab Automobile AB is not party to changing the identity of a stolen car.
