AC Relay

Crankshaft stationary.

The refrigerant circuit must also be OK.

Charge Air By Pass control valve

Control of control module output, electric circuit and actuator operation. When the output is active, the control valve should connect the bypass valve control line to the nipple on the throttle body, before the throttle. Otherwise, use a test lamp to locate the faulty lead/component.

Main relay

Note: When the ignition is turned on, the main relay is always active. To deactivate the relay, it must first be activated "ON" and then "OFF".

Control of control module output, electric circuit and actuator operation. When the output is active, a test lamp connected between pins 6 and 10 on the ignition discharge module should go on. Otherwise, use a test lamp to locate the faulty lead/component.

Fuel Pump Relay (max 30 s)

Crankshaft stationary. Activation time is limited to 30 seconds.

Check the fuel pressure as well if necessary.

Preheating O2S 1

Control of control output and electric circuit. When the output is active, sensor pin 1 should be grounded. Otherwise, use a test lamp to locate the faulty lead/component. Connect the test lamp between pins 2 and B+ when checking.

Note: Preheating is powered from the fuel pump relay. When the preheating is activated, the fuel pump relay will not be active and the sensor will therefore not become warm. If necessary, the pump circuit can be powered via fuse 28 during activation.

Preheating O2S 2

Crankshaft stationary.

Control of control output and electric circuit. When the output is active, sensor pin 1 should be grounded. Otherwise, use a test lamp to locate the faulty lead/component. Connect the test lamp between pins 2 and B+ when checking.

Note: Preheating is powered from the fuel pump relay. When the preheating is activated, the fuel pump relay will not be active and the sensor will therefore not become warm. If necessary, the pump circuit can be powered via fuse 28 during activation.

Throttle Motor PWM Test (30s)

When the crankshaft is stationary and control module input for pedal sensor 1 is grounded and the input for pedal sensor 2 is open (connect a jumper between pins 4 and 1 in the throttle body connector).

The main relay must also be supplying control module pin 1.

Each motor lead can be supplied with B+ or ground to reverse the polarity. The processor reverses the polarity of the motor leads alternately with 50%: PWM.

Control of control module output and electric circuit. Connect a test lamp between pins 5 and 10 in the throttle body connector. The lamp should alternate between green and red during the test.

Fuel Pump Flow Test (30s).

Crankshaft stationary.

The fuel pump is activated for 30 s. A button on the diagnostic tool must be held in throughout the test for safety reasons.

Checks that the flow is within limits when fuel adaptation values are high and that the pressure and fuel pressure regulator response are OK when fuel adaptation values are high or low.

Injector 1 Flow Test

Crankshaft stationary.

The injector is activated for 30 s. A button on the diagnostic tool must be held in throughout the test for safety reasons. The fuel pump must first be started by connecting multilead connector 83 93 886 between fuse 25 upper pin and 32 lower pin.

WARNING. The test must NEVER be carried out with the injectors mounted in the intake manifold. Checks that the flow is within limits when uneven fuel distribution between cylinders is suspected or if fuel adaptation values are high.

Injector 2 Flow Test

Crankshaft stationary.

The injector is activated for 30 s. A button on the diagnostic tool must be held in throughout the test for safety reasons. The fuel pump must first be started by connecting multilead connector 83 93 886 between fuse 25 upper pin and 32 lower pin.

WARNING. The test must NEVER be carried out with the injectors mounted in the intake manifold. Checks that the flow is within limits when uneven fuel distribution between cylinders is suspected or if fuel adaptation values are high.

Canister Purge Valve (max 60s)

Crankshaft stationary. Activation time is limited to 60 seconds.

Processor control of the transistor that grounds the circuit with 8 Hz PWM. The pulse ratio is adjustable.

Canister Close Valve

EVAP Integrity Diagnose

The cold start diagnosis is initiated irrespective of the engine coolant temperature when starting.

For integrity check of EVAP system.

Charge air control valve

Crankshaft stationary. Activation time is limited to 60 seconds.

Processor control of the transistor that grounds the circuit with 32 Hz PWM. The pulse ratio is adjustable.

Control of control module output, electric circuit and actuator operation. When the output is active, the valve should be heard operating. Otherwise, use a test lamp to locate the faulty lead/component. Check also that C and W are constantly in connected to each other and that R is closed but opens gradually when the PWM rises.

Reset Misfire Counters and Knock Counters

Crankshaft stationary.

Misfire counters and Knock counters are set to 0 for all cylinders.

Zero before test driving.
