Bush in stanchion

To remove



1. Raise the car and remove the wheel.

2. Remove the anti-roll bar nut, washer and rubber bush.

3. Undo the ball joint nut.

Press out the ball joint using 89 96 696 Puller .

Remove the nut from the ball joint.

4. Remove the screw that attaches the stanchion to the suspension arm.

5. Remove the screw to the stanchion mounting in the suspension arm.

Pull the lower spacer sleeve out of the hole.

6. Remove the stanchion. Use a crowbar.

7. Press out the bush with 87 90 487 Press sleeve, differential bearing , use 87 90 859 Press sleeve for support.



To fit



1. Press the bush into the stanchion with 87 90 487 Press sleeve, differential bearing , use 87 90 859 Press sleeve for support.

2. Fit the upper spacer sleeve into the bush.

Put the stanchion in place and press the lower spacer sleeve into the hole so that it is flush with the plate in the subframe.

Note

Make sure the upper spacer sleeve is protruding from the hole in the subframe.


Insert the screw to the stanchion mounting in the suspension arm.


3. Turn the stanchion to its correct position and insert the screw that attaches the stanchion to the suspension arm.

4. Tighten the screw to the stanchion mounting in the suspension arm.

Tightening torque: 110 Nm +75° (81 lbf ft +75°).


5. Tighten the screw that attaches the stanchion to the suspension arm.

Tightening torque 92 Nm (68 lbf ft).

6. Fit the ball joint nut.

Warning

A new nut should always be attached if it has been removed, because the holding power of a locknut is reduced when it is refitted.


Tightening torque 75 Nm (55 lbf ft)

7. Fit the anti-roll bar rubber bush, washer and nut.

Tightening torque 10 Nm (7.4 lbf ft).

8. Fit the wheel, see Wheels .

Tightening torque: 110 Nm (81 lbf ft).

9. Lower the car to the floor.
