Radiator cross-member

Radiator cross-member

1. Place the car in an alignment bench and cross-measure as necessary.

2. Drill out the spot-welds.

3. Cut away the cross member. Cut as close to the member as possible.

4. Align any deformed sheet metal or panels.

5. Grind clean the surfaces that are to be welded on the spare part and body.

6. Apply welding primer on the surfaces to be spot-welded. Use Teroson Zinkspray.

7. Fit the spare part and measure out its position using the aligning bench measuring system.

8. Spot-weld the front cross-member.

9. All-weld the joints on the rear of the cross member. If the wheel housing and longitudinal member are being changed at the same time, this joint must be spot welded. The cover in the front of the wheel housing is then removed, which makes it easier to spot weld.

10. Grind the welds.

11. Remove any remaining welding primer. Welding primer reduces adhesion of paint, filler and sealant.

12. Apply primer to all bare metal surfaces. Use Standox 1K Fullprimer.

13. Seal joints and sheet metal flanges with sealant. Use Terostat 1K-PUR.

14. Apply anti-corrosion agent to the cross-member after it has been painted. Use Terotex HV 400 or Mercasol 1.
