Permissible joints


It is extremely important that body reinforcement is not damaged during bodywork repair. The above illustration shows a summary of permissible joints for a number of frequent repair locations. In some cases , the limits are marked with groove limits in the body. These are indicated by a * in the above illustration.

The dimensions apply to both three-door and five-door body models.


1. The A-pillar must be cut and joined in the middle.

2. Roof with a sunroof can be joined in the middle of the sunroof opening.

3. The upper end of the B-pillar should be joined at least 150 mm from its centre line.

4. The front of the door sill may be joined max 20 mm above the mounting hole for the front wing.

5. The front part of the door frame must be joined at least 150 mm from the A-pillar extended centre line.

6. The B-pillar lower part must be joined at least 200 mm from its centre line.

7. The inner door sills must be joined at least 150 mm from the B-pillar centre line.
