Operate the soft top to half open position and fit special tool
Soft top support
(16) 82 93 144 to prevent the soft top from falling down once the hydraulic pressure is released.

Remove the front seals and their retainers.
|
|
| 3. |
Remove the retainer strip in the first bow front edge (9 screws).
|
|
| 4. |
Remove the upholstery by the handle with a small screwdriver and remove the handle by pulling the pins out of the groove.

| 5. |
Remove the cover fastened with two clips on the front rail. Hold the soft top support so that it does not release when the covers are folded out.
|
|
| 6. |
Remove the headlining from the first bow. The headlining is attached to the front rail with a screw on each side and is also hooked on at the front edge and has elastic bands at the sides.
|
|
| 7. |
Fold up the outer roof from the first bow.
|
|
| 8. |
Drill out the pop rivets for the side cables, three on each side. Clean the holes from burrs.
|

| 9. |
Remove the soft top support and balance the soft top.
|
|
| 10. |
Remove the control linkage bolt, fastened with clips in the front rail.
|
|
| 11. |
Remove the retaining screws (4 pcs) for the first bow. Lift away the first bow with assistance from another person.
|
|
| 12. |
Position the first bow on a bench and completely dismantle the lock mechanism.
|
|
| Fitting |
| 1. |
Fit the left lock. Make sure that the front of the lock is positioned directly in front of the lug, and that the lock is centred in the middle of the lug. Fit the right lock in the same way.
Check the distance between the outer edges of the latch hooks. It should be 822 mm. Correct the distance by adjusting the right latch until the distance 822 mm is obtained. |

With assistance, fit the first bow to the soft top mechanism. Tighten the four retaining screws.

| 3. |
Fit the control linkage in the front rail on the first bow. Lock the soft top to the windscreen frame and tighten the nuts securing the lock mechanism.

| 4. |
Move the soft top to half open position. Position the soft top support (16) 82 93 144 so that the soft top is secured in the half open position.

| 5. |
Pop rivet the side cables
|
|
| 6. |
Fit new double-backed tape on the first bow.
Stretch the outer roof fabric and fold it over the first bow. |
|
| 7. |
Fasten the headlining to the first bow.
|
|
| 8. |
Fit the pins for the handle.
|
|
| 9. |
Fit the plastic cover on the first bow.
|
|
| 10. |
Fit the handle and the upholstery by the handle.
|
|
| 11. |
Refit the retainer strip on the first bow.

Fit the front seal retainers.
|
|
| 13. |
Lubricate the seals with soapy water. Position the outer edge in the groove and press in the seal. Start from the back and work towards the front. Fit the front screw.

Connect the diagnostics tool and erase any diagnostic trouble code.
|
|
| 15. |
Check so that there is no water leakage by spraying water from above at an angle.
Never use high pressure. |
