Fluid-cooled oil cooler

To remove


1. Remove the Battery and the lower section of the battery cover, see Battery cover, lower section .


2. Remove the upper engine cover.

3. Remove the lower spoiler shield. Detach the hose to the headlamp washers, unplug the connector and remove it.


4. Place a receptacle under the car, connect a hose to the radiator and drain the coolant


5. Remove the cable guide bolt and nuts (1 bolt and 2 nuts). Lift off the guide from the studs.


6. Remove the oil pressure sensor connector.

7. Remove the level sensor connector.


8. Detach the coolant container from the bracket and move it aside.

9. Detach the coolant hose to the thermostat housing and move it aside.


10. Detach the coolant hoses on the oil cooler and move them aside.


11. Cars with secondary air injection pump : Detach the pump pipe from the check valve.


12. Place a receptacle under the engine to collect the oil and coolant.

13. Remove the oil cooler's attaching bolts to the engine block.

14. Lift out the radiator and remove the oil pressure sensor.



To fit


1. Fit the oil pressure sensor.


2. Fit new O-rings onto the oil cooler.

3. Position the oil cooler. Fit the oil cooler bolts.

Tightening torque 22 Nm (16 lbf ft)


4. Fit the hoses and clamps for the oil cooler (if secondary air injection pump) fit the pipe to the check valve

5. Cars with secondary air injection pump : Fit the pump pipe to the check valve.


6. Fit the lower coolant hose to the thermostat housing. Check that the oil cooler hose clamps do not touch the lower coolant hose. Adjust as necessary.


7. Fit the coolant container in the bracket. Fit the level sensor connector.


8. Pressure test the cooling system, see Cooling system, pressure testing .

9. Fit the cable guide and the oil pressure sensor connector.


10. Replace the upper engine cover.


11. Fit the Battery cover, lower section and Battery .

12. Check the engine oil level and top up as necessary.

13. Fill coolant fluid and carry out Bleeding the cooling system when working with the oil cooler .

14. Connect the hose to the headlamp washers. Fit and plug in the connector. Fit the lower spoiler shield.


15. Carry out Procedures after reconnecting the battery .
