The gudgeon pin must not be pressed out. If the piston, gudgeon pin or connecting rod is defective, all of the above must be changed. |

Remove the piston with the connecting rod (1) - see
Piston with connecting rod, removing and fitting

Apply thermochrome stick to the connecting rod eye and the upper part of the connecting rod shaft. Once the necessary fitting temperature is attained, the green colour will turn black. The dash (arrow) must not change colour along its whole length, only to the beginning of the connecting rod shaft. Heat the new connecting rod at the upper connecting rod eye on a hot plate. Fitting temperature: 280°C to max. 320°C.

Fitting position: bosses (arrows) on connecting rod pointing towards the flat part of the gudgeon pin hole (arrow).
A jammed gudgeon pin cannot be pressed afterwards. Assemble quickly. |

Connecting rod (1), gudgeon pin, piston (2).

Press in the new gudgeon pin with the drift until it stops in the piston.

Fit the piston together with the connecting rod - see
Piston with connecting rod, removing and fitting
