Tooth belt tension, setting

Tooth belt tension, setting

Note

Set while the engine is cold - room temperature.

For this procedure, the drive belt tension must have been checked first. This means the crankshaft is set to "No. 1 cylinder TDC" and camshaft gear fixed with KM-852 - see procedure Tooth belt tension, check .

1. Undo the tooth belt tensioning pulley retaining bolt (I).

2. Tension the drive belt tensioning pulley (I) on the adjusting eccenter in the direction of the arrow (anticlockwise) until the pointer is close to the right-hand stop (I). Tighten the tensioning pulley locking screw.

3. Remove the blocking tool KM-852.

4. Turn the crankshaft twice (720°) in the direction of engine rotation using the tooth belt sprocket retaining bolt and position it to "ignition TDC for cylinder 1" (III). The markings on the camshaft sprockets must be in front of each other (II). Turn the crankshaft slowly and evenly.

5. Fix the camshaft sprocket with KM-852.

Adjusting new tooth belt

1. Undo the bolt on the drive belt tensioning pulley slightly and turn the eccenter adjuster in the direction of the arrow (clockwise) until:

Possibility I: The pointer (1) on the drive belt tensioning pulley corresponds with the mark (2).
Possibility II: The pointer (1) on the drive belt tensioning pulley corresponds with the "NEW" mark (2).

2. Tighten the tensioning pulley locking screw - tightening torque 20 Nm.

3. Remove the blocking tool KM-852.

4. Turn the crankshaft two more times (720°) in the direction of engine rotation, set it to "No. 1 cylinder TDC" and check the drive belt tension pulley setting.

5. If the tensioning pulley pointer does not agree with the corresponding mark, the procedure must be repeated.

Adjustment of used tooth belt

1. Undo the bolt on the drive belt tensioning pulley slightly and turn the eccenter adjuster in the direction of the arrow (clockwise) until:

Possibility I: The pointer (1) on the tooth belt tensioning pulley must be approx. 4mm to the left of the groove (2).
Possibility II: The pointer (1) on the tooth belt tensioning pulley corresponds with the "USED" mark (2).
