Coolant pump, diesel

To remove


1. Protect the wings with covers.

Warning

The cooling system is under pressure. Hot coolant and steam can escape.

- Open the cap slowly to release the pressure.

- Carelessness can cause eye and burn injuries


2. Undo the cap on the expansion tank and release the pressure.


3. Remove the upper engine cover.

Warning

The turbocharger can be hot and great care must be observed.


4. Remove the turbo delivery hose from the upper turbo delivery pipe.


5. Remove the turbo intake hose and detach the crankcase ventilation hose.

6. Remove the mass air flow sensor connector.


7. Remove the air cleaner casing cover.

8. Remove the air cleaner.


9. Detach the intake hose and remove the air cleaner casing.

10. Raise the car.

11. Remove the lower engine cover.


12. Undo the right-hand side of the front spoiler shield and fold it down.

13. Place a suitable receptacle under the radiator. Connect a hose to the radiator and drain the coolant. Close the cock.


14. Undo the front part of the right wing liner.


15. Relieve the belt tensioner and remove the drive belt. Use a 19mm spanner.

16. Lower the car and place a jack with wood block underneath the oil sump and relieve the right-hand engine pad.

17. Remove the engine pad from the body and bracket.


18. Remove the bracket from the engine.

19. Raise the engine higher and remove the coolant pump pulley.


20. Remove the coolant pump.



To fit


1. Clean the sealing surfaces and fit the coolant pump with new O-ring. The recess in the pump must be up.

Tightening torque 20 Nm (15 lbf ft).


2. Fit the coolant pump pulley.

Tightening torque 20 Nm (15 lbf ft).


3. Fit the bracket to the engine.

Tightening torque 45 + 90° Nm


4. Fit and adjust the engine pad to the body. Tighten the bolts between the engine pad and the bracket. The engine pad and bracket should be aligned with each other.

Important

Engine pads should not lie against the engine brackets.


Tightening torque, body: 40 Nm +60° (30 lbf ft +60°)

Tightening torque, bracket: 70 Nm +60° (52 lbf ft +60°)

5. Fit the air cleaner casing and intake hose.


6. Fit the air cleaner.

7. Fit the air cleaner casing cover.


8. Plug in the mass air flow sensor, connect the crankcase ventilation hose and fit the turbocharger intake hose.

9. Fit the turbo delivery hose to the upper turbo delivery pipe.


10. Fit the upper engine cover.

11. Raise the car.

12. Release the tension of the poly-V-belt.


13. Check the belt position on all pulleys.

14. Fit the front part of the right wing liner.

15. Fit the front spoiler shield.

16. Fit the lower engine cover.


17. Lower the car.

18. Test pressurise the cooling system, see Cooling system, pressure testing . Fill coolant 20 mm above the level mark. Fit the expansion tank cap.


19. Remove the wing cover.
