Fan cowling

To remove


1. Remove the upper engine cover.


2. Remove the battery cover.

3. Remove the battery cooler pipe.


4. Remove the washer fluid filler pipe.

5. Remove the upper radiator crossmember.

6. Disconnect the charge air pipe from the throttle body and the pipe's upper mounting from the fan cowling.


7. Disconnect the charge air hose from the charge air pipe on the camshaft cover and bend aside the hose.

8. Remove the bolt securing the charge air pipe and slacken the bolt securing the stay.

9. Raise the car.

10. Remove the front spoiler shield. Disconnect the headlight washer hose and unplug and remove the connector. Refer to Spoiler shield, To remove .


11. Disconnect the charge air hose from the charge air pipe.


12. Detach the lower charge air pipe mounting from the fan cowling.

13. Lower the car.

14. Remove the charge air pipe.

15. Remove the battery.


16. Disconnect the vacuum hoses from the swirl throttle and throttle body.


17. Remove the cover with vacuum tank, glow plug relay, etc. and bend it aside.

18. Press in the catch and remove the power steering fluid reservoir and bracket.


19. Unplug the bonnet switch connector and remove the battery box.

20. Undo the clip securing the wiring to the battery tray.

21. Unplug the radiator fan connector and the clip holding the wiring to the fan cowling.


22. Remove the upper radiator cover and remove the upper radiator mountings from the body.


23. Remove the bolts holding the fan cowling and loosen the fan cowling slightly.


24. Remove and bend aside the lower radiator cover.

25. Fit 83 95 212 Strap between the radiator and radiator fan. Move the radiator assembly forward and secure it with the strap.

26. Remove the fan cowling.


Important

Take care so as not to damage the fan cowling when removing it.



To fit


1. Fit the fan cowling with the bolts to the radiator.


Important

Make sure the lower catches of the fan cowling go into their mountings. Otherwise, there is a risk that the cooling system could be damaged.


2. Remove the strap.

3. Fit the lower cover to the radiator.


4. Fit the upper radiator mountings to the body.


5. Fit the upper cover to the radiator.


6. Plug in the fan connector to the fan cowling. Attach the wiring to the fan cowling.

7. Fit the wiring mounting to the battery box.


8. Fit the battery box.

9. Plug in the connector to the bonnet switch.

10. Fit the power steering fluid reservoir.

11. Fit the cover with vacuum tank, glow plug relay, etc.


12. Refit the vacuum hoses to the swirl throttle and throttle body.

13. Fit the battery.


14. Feed down the charge air pipe and connect it to the throttle body. Thread the bolt securing the upper mounting holding the charge air pipe to the fan cowling.


15. Raise the car.

16. Fit the lower charge air pipe mounting to the fan cowling.


17. Connect the charge air hose to the charge air pipe.

18. Fit the front spoiler shield and the headlight washer hose. Plug in and fit the connector. Refer to Spoiler shield, To fit .


19. Lower the car.

20. Tighten the upper charge air pipe mounting to the fan cowling.


21. Fit the charge air pipe to the stay and tighten the bolt securing the stay to the radiator.

22. Fit the charge air hose to the charge air pipe on the camshaft cover.

23. Fit the upper radiator crossmember .


24. Fit the washer fluid filler pipe.

25. Fit the battery cooler pipe.

26. Fit the battery cover.


27. Fit the upper engine cover.

28. Since the battery has been disconnected, carry out the following procedures .
