Acceptance inspection

Acceptance inspection

Acceptance inspection of new vehicles is obligatory for all Saab vehicles.

Carry out the checks and confirm this with your signature on the Acceptance inspection form .

Directly after receiving a new vehicle it must be inspected. The recipient is responsible for reporting faults and discrepancies according to the appropriate routines.

1. Check that the specification of the car is the same as that given on the order form. This also applies to optional equipment.

2. Make sure that the spare wheel and toolkit are in place in the car.

3. Make sure that separately packed materials are present.

4. Check the battery condition .

5. Clean the car in preparation for the paint and damage inspection. Washing the car with strong alkaline detergent may affect the paint finish. Use so small amounts of chemicals as possible when washing the car.

Vehicles with plastic paint protector: If the paint protector is damaged this should be removed in order to check the extent of any further damage. After this the vehicle must be stored indoors.

6. Inspect the car internally and externally for damage.

7. Make a note of any damage and report it together with other observations.

Measures to take if the car is to be put into storage

1. Check the tyre pressures and if necessary adjust to 3.5 bar (50 psi).

Important

If the car is parked for lengthier periods with underinflated tyres, a flat area will be formed on them where they rest on the ground. This causes vibrations and makes wheel balancing more difficult.

2. If the car is stored at ambient temperatures exceeding +20°C, fill the fuel tank to at least 2/3 full. Otherwise, there is a risk of the fuel pump malfunctioning due to oxidation.

Additional measures if the car is to be stored outdoors

1. Check the coolant level and the antifreeze concentration. The coolant should be able to withstand at least -30°C (-22°F). It will then also provide maximum corrosion protection. In certain climates, it is necessary for the coolant to withstand even lower temperatures. If necessary, top up with a 1:1 mixture of Saab Original Antifreeze and water.

2. If the plastic paint protector has been removed the vehicle must be stored indoors.

3. Drive the car to the storage car park, applying the brakes briefly and repeatedly, so that the brake discs will be clean and dry.

4. Ensure that:

The hand brake is fully released.

Manual gearbox: Reverse gear is selected.

Automatic transmission: The gear selector is positioned at P.

All windows, doors and the boot lid are properly closed.

5. Check the protective plastic on the seats and adjust if necessary.

6. Open the bonnet.

7. Lock the car.

8. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery or alternatively remove the battery for charging. Close the bonnet.
