Saab 9-3 (9440) M05 with engine alternative Z19, within Vehicle Identification Number range 51000000-51024444.
| Background |
There have been instances where the drive belt fitted since the initial production of Z19 diesel cars may cause a screeching noise from the engine's belt circuit. This primarily arises when the engine is started and then revved up. A new belt made from a slightly tougher material has been developed to avoid such noises.
In the case of customer complaint, the following procedure must be carried out.

Replace the drive belt in accordance with WIS M05 - Engine - 4-cyl diesel - Basic engine - Adjustment/Replacement - Drive belt for auxiliaries.
