EVAP System, Fuel Level Sensor Failure and Tank Pressure Sensor Value too High
Fault symptom
Fault indicator lamp (for further information see WIS Fault diagnosis, general)
On-board diagnosis
Type of diagnosis:
| Once per driving cycle. Stopped when fault criteria are fulfilled or OK reported. |
Enable criteria:
| Intake air temperature higher than 0°C. |
| Atmospheric pressure between 75 and 106 kPa. |
| Tank level lower than 50 litres. |
| Current tank pressure sensor value is adapted. |
Fault criteria:
| Adapted value is more than 750 Pa higher than atmospheric pressure. |
| A fuel level sensor fault has been detected at the same time, which makes the EVAP diagnosis unreliable. |

Checking the wiring harness
Move the wiring harness at several spots and in several directions to reveal intermittent breaks and short-circuits. Check switches, connectors and crimp connections for oxidation, retracted pins and pin clamping force.
Diagnostic help
Diagnosis regards:
| Faulty fuel level sensor and tank pressure sensor. |
| Resistance in cable and connectors to tank pressure sensor and fuel level sensor. |
Functions in the diagnostic tool related to the fault:
| Pressure must be around 0 pa with ignition on. |
