Compressor's high and low-pressure pipes, B284

Important

The A/C receiver and the compressor oil absorb moisture from the air, which can then not be removed. Plug all connections that are opened immediately.


To remove


1. Drain the refrigerant from the A/C system, see Draining and filling the refrigerant .

2. Remove the right headlamp .

3. Remove the upper engine cover.

4. Remove the air filter housing cover.


5. Detach the mass air flow sensor pipe.


6. Remove the upper turbocharger delivery pipe.


7. Remove the upper screws of the turbocharger delivery pipe.

8. Raise the car.

9. Detach the turbocharger delivery pipe from the hose and A/C compressor.

10. Lower the car.

11. Remove the battery cover.

12. Detach the battery coolant pipe.

13. Remove the upper mountings of the radiator core.


14. Press the radiator core forward and remove the front turbocharger delivery pipe.

15. Dismantle PAD connection on the front right structural member. Plug the openings.


16. Remove the plastic clip. Detach the upper PAD connection on the condenser. Plug the openings.


17. Detach the PAD connection on the receiver. Detach the hose.


18. Detach the PAD connection from the compressor. Plug the openings.


19. Detach the compressor's high and low pressure pipes. Remove them downward.


To fit


1. Adjust the oil quantity in the A/C system. See Filling and adjusting the compressor oil .

2. Position the compressor's high and low pressure pipes. Mount them from underneath.

3. Attach the compressor's high and low pressure pipes to the PAD connection on the compressor. Use a new seal.


4. Fit the receiver's high pressure pipe to the receiver using a new seal.

Tightening torque 18 Nm (13 lbf ft)


5. Attach the upper PAD connector to the condenser using a new seal.

Tightening torque 15 Nm (11 lbf ft)


6. Fit the plastic clips to the pipes. Fit the receiver high pressure pipe to the PAD connection on the front right structural member using a new seal.

Tightening torque, PAD connection 15 Nm (11 lbf ft)


7. Press the radiator core forward and fit the front turbocharger delivery pipe. Insert the screws.

8. Fit the upper mountings of the radiator core.


9. Attach the battery coolant pipe.

10. Fit the battery cover.

11. Raise the car.

12. Attach the turbocharger delivery pipe on the front of the engine.


13. Lower the car.

14. Tighten the upper screws of the turbocharger delivery pipe.

15. Fit the upper turbocharger delivery pipe.

16. Attach the mass air flow sensor pipe.


17. Fit the air filter housing cover.


18. Fit the upper engine cover.

19. Fit headlamp .

20. Vacuum pump and fill the A/C system with refrigerant. See Draining and filling the refrigerant .

21. Test the A/C system. See A/C system performance test
