Soft top storage drive with locks

Removing

The soft top storage drive is located on the right-hand side of the car.


1. Open the soft top cover. Raise the sixth bow and support it with 82 93 847 Soft top support .


2. Remove the soft top storage bolts.


3. Unhook the cable from the soft top storage drive.

4. Remove the retaining bolts from the soft top storage drive.

5. Remove the clips from the idler pulley pin.

6. Undo the idler pulley and unhook the cable from the holder.

7. Unplug the position sensor connector.


8. Remove the cable locks on the soft top cover hinge. Unhook the cable.


9. Loosen the upper clips on the torsion box for the cable.


10. Remove the soft top support. Close the soft top cover and sixth bow.

11. Open the boot lid.

Important

Take care when opening the boot lid when the soft top cover is not locked as there is a risk of damaging the paintwork.


12. Remove the Luggage compartment side trim, CV on the right-hand side.

13. Undo the control module nuts. Lay the control module to one side.

14. Loosen the cable clip.


15. Close the boot lid. Open the sixth bow and the soft top cover. Secure with the soft top support.

16. Lift out the soft top storage drive with cable.

17. Transfer the position sensor to the spare part if possible.


Fitting


1. Hook the cable onto the holder.


2. Fit the idler pulley and the clip to the soft top storage mechanism. Hook on the end of the cable.

3. Plug in the position sensor connector. The position sensor connector must be located behind the hose package so it does not catch on the mechanism.

Important

The cable for the position sensor must be refitted as it was earlier or there will be a risk of it getting jammed when the soft top is operated.



4. Place the soft top storage drive (complete with cable) in mounting position.

5. Fit the bolts to the soft top storage drive.


6. Fit the soft top storage bolts.

7. Lower the cable into the luggage compartment. The cable must be behind the trim.

8. Fit the upper cable clip on the torsion box. Note the position of the cable.


9. Remove the soft top support. Close the soft top cover and sixth bow.

10. Open the boot lid.

Important

Take care when opening the boot lid when the soft top cover is not locked as there is a risk of damaging the paintwork.


11. Put the cable in mounting position. The cable must be lying behind the hose package. Make sure the cable is drawn correctly.

12. Fit the cable clip.


13. Fit the control module.

14. Close the boot lid. Open the soft top cover and the sixth bow. Secure with the soft top support.

15. Fit the cable to the soft top cover hinge with a pair of pliers. The cable must be lying behind the emergency operation tool. Fit the locks.


16. Fit Luggage compartment side trim, CV .

17. Remove the soft top support and close the soft top.

18. Check the function of the soft top and soft top storage.

19. Connect the diagnostics tool and erase any diagnostic trouble code.
