This bulletin advises of a new improved injection and engine management system and it comes into immediate effect. WIS edition 1 2007 will contain the information.

An improved engine management system, EDC16 C39, has been introduced into production from week 44, 2006 in accordance with the above chassis numbers. The system is similar to the one in the Saab 9-5 for Z19. The difference between the new and the previous engine management system EDC16, C9 for 9-3 is as follows:

Requires Tech2 upgrade to software 127 000 or later.

New engine management system EDC16 (not the same as for the Saab 9-5 which is CAN-bus dependent).
|
|

New diagnostic trouble codes, see information in WIS, 9-3 M07.

|
New injectors with narrower tolerances (same as Saab 9-5). The injectors have new part numbers and cannot be used for the earlier engine management system (EDC16 C9).

New glow plugs for engine alternative Z19DT.
|
|
•
|
The particle filter only has one pipe for the pressure sensor. The engine management system's pressure is used as reference pressure (same as for Saab 9-5).

Cleaning procedure for EGR:
After the engine has been switched off, and if thermostat opening has been achieved, then the cleaning function will be activated.
