A/C compressor, B284

To remove


1. Drain the refrigerant from the car. See Draining and filling the refrigerant .

2. Remove the air filter housing cover.


3. Detach the mass air flow sensor pipe.


4. Remove the engine cover.

5. Remove the upper turbocharger delivery pipe.


6. Remove the upper screws of the turbocharger delivery pipe.

7. Raise the car.

8. Remove the front spoiler shield.


9. Remove secondary air injection pump, B284

10. Detach the turbocharger delivery pipe on the front of the engine from the hose and A/C compressor. Lower the car.


11. Detach the A/C compressor's PAD connection. Plug the openings.

12. Unplug the connector.

13. Remove the upper screw of the A/C compressor.

14. Raise the car.

15. Relieve tension on the belt using a ½" articulated handle and life the belt off of the A/C compressor pulley.


16. Remove the A/C compressor.


To fit


1. Fill with fluid as described under Filling and adjusting the compressor oil .

2. Fit the A/C compressor. Insert the lower screws.


3. Lower the car.

4. Fit the upper screw of the A/C compressor.

Tightening torque 24 Nm (18 lbf ft)

5. Fit the pipe connections using new seals.

Tightening torque 18 Nm (13 lbf ft)

6. Fit the connector.

7. Raise the car.

8. Tighten the A/C compressor's lower screws.

Tightening torque 24 Nm (18 lbf ft)

9. Attach the turbocharger delivery pipe to the hose and A/C compressor. Insert the screw.

10. Fit secondary air injection pump, B284 .

11. Relieve tension on the belt tensioner and fit the belt.


12. Fit the spoiler shield.


13. Lower the car.

14. Fit the upper screws of the turbocharger delivery pipe.


15. Raise the car.

16. Tigthen the turbocharger delivery pipe screw.

17. Lower the car.

18. Fit the upper turbocharger delivery pipe.

19. Fit the engine cover.

20. Attach the mass air flow sensor pipe.


21. Fit the air filter housing cover.


22. Vacuum pump and fill the A/C system with refrigerant. See Draining and filling the refrigerant .

23. Running in the compressor to distribute the compressor oil around the system:

- Activate the A/C and allow it to run for at least 2 minutes at an engine speed of <1350 rpm.

24. Test the A/C system. See A/C system performance test .
