Fan cowling, Z19DT/DTH

To remove

1. Remove the upper engine cover and insulation.

Warning

The cooling system is under pressure. Hot coolant and steam can escape.

- Open the cap slowly to release the pressure.

- Carelessness can cause eye and burn injuries

2. Undo the expansion tank cap to release pressure and then retighten the cap.

3. Raise the car.

4. Remove the spoiler shield.

5. Place a suitable receptacle under the radiator. Connect a hose to the radiator and drain the coolant.

6. Remove the turbocharger delivery pipe hose and the pipe screw from the radiator.

7. Lower the car.

8. Remove the Upper radiator member.

9. Remove the turbocharger delivery hose from the throttle body, the clip from the coolant hose and the turbocharger delivery pipe from the fan cowling. Remove the pipe and hose complete.

10. Remove the turbo delivery pipe and hose from the turbocharger outlet.

11. Remove the upper radiator hose.

12. Detach the bleeder hose from the radiator and move it aside.

13. Detach the coolant pipe from the reservoir on the engine, two mountings and the hose from the manifold and move it aside.

14. Hold the A/C hose down with 83 95 212 Strap . Remove the bolts.

15. Remove the electrical connection from the fan cowling.

16. Remove the electrical connection and wiring from the fan cowling and raise the fan cowling. Be careful with the A/C pipe that goes to the desiccant container.

To fit

1. Fit the fan cowling.

2. Remove the strap.

3. Fit the turbocharger delivery pipe and hose to the turbocharger outlet.

Important

To reduce the risk of hoses mounted on the delivery side of the turbocharger coming loose due to low friction at high air pressure, the hoses and connecting pieces must be cleaned thoroughly before fitting. Use a rag dampened with 93 160 907 Motip Dupli cleaning agent to wipe clean inside the ends of the hoses. Clean the connecting pieces as well. If hose clips are rusty or damaged, they must be replaced so the correct clamping force is maintained.

4. Fit the coolant pipe to the reservoir on the engine, two mountings and the hose to the manifold.

5. Fit the electrical connections to the fan.

6. Fit the upper radiator hose.

7. Fit the air exhaust hose to the radiator.

8. Fit the turbocharger delivery pipe to the throttle body and the clip to the coolant hose. Fit the upper bolt.

9. Fit the Upper radiator member.

10. Raise the car.

11. Fit the turbocharger delivery pipe hose and pipe to the radiator.

12. Fit the spoiler shield.

13. Lower the car.

14. Fill with coolant, see Filling and bleeding the cooling system, Z19 .

15. Pressure test the cooling system, see Cooling system, pressure testing .

16. Fit the insulation and upper engine cover.
