Injectors (206A-F)

Warning

The work involved in removing the fuel pipe requires working with the vehicle's fuel system. The following points should therefore be heeded in conjunction with these measures:

• Have a class BE fire extinguisher on hand! Be aware of the risk of sparks, i.e. in connection with electric circuits, short-circuiting, etc.

• Absolutely No Smoking!

• Ensure good ventilation! If there is approved ventilation for evacuating fuel fumes then this must be used.

• Wear protective gloves! Prolonged exposure of the hands to fuel can cause irritation to the skin.

• Wear protective goggles.


Important

Great cleanliness must be observed when working on the fuel rail and injectors. Clean the injectors, fuel-injection rail and intake manifold. Blow clean with compressed air.


To remove


1. Remove Intake manifold, upper .

2. Remove the intake manifold gaskets.

3. Unplug the injector connectors using a small screwdriver.


4. Detach the injectors' wiring harness.

5. Unplug the fuel pressure sensor connector.

6. Release any fuel pressure by pressing in the needle valve on the fuel rail. Catch any fuel spill with a cloth.

7. Detach the fuel line from the fuel rail using 83 95 261 Fuel line tool . Catch any fuel spill.

8. Remove the bolts. Remove the fuel rail with injectors from the engine.


9. Remove the clips from the valves.


10. Remove the valves from the fuel rail.


To fit


1. Fit the injectors to the fuel rail using new seals coated with acid-free vaseline. Fit the clips on the injectors and press them into the fuel rail.


2. Fit the fuel rail with injectors to the engine. Fit the bolts.

Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7 lbf ft).


3. Attach the fuel line to the fuel rail.


4. Plug in the fuel pressure sensor connector.

5. Attach the injectors' wiring harness.

6. Plug in the injector connectors.

7. Fit the intake manifold gaskets.

8. Fit Intake manifold, upper .
