Simtec 71.6 primarily regulates:

A number of sensors provide information to the control module, which processes the data with the help of matrices that are stored in the control module after optimisation of the engine's function. Examples of such matrices are ignition status matrices, fuel matrices and mass air flow matrices.

Simtec 71.6 is SPS programmable.

The control module can be damaged by electrostatic discharges or a short-circuit in any control module output. So, great care must be taken when handling the control module during troubleshooting or the like.

Fuel injection is primarily regulated using the mass air flow sensor. There are substitute functions for all sensors except the crankshaft sensor.

The control module for Simtec 71.6 has a 70-pin connection.

The control module is continuously supplied +30 on pin 32(B) and loses adapted values and stored DTCs if this voltage disappears.

The control module is adapted for voltage of 8-16 V while driving.

When the ignition is connected, the control module is activated and lights the CHECK ENGINE lamp with a steady glow as a functionality check. The fuel pump relay is activated for 1 second to build up fuel pressure. The control module then waits for pulses from the crankshaft sensor.
