Certain welded joints on the car may be MIG brazed with bronze as the filling material. A MIG brazed seam can be identified by the gold colour of the joint. MIG brazing must always be replaced by new MIG brazing.

Warning

Repairs to MIG brazing using conventional welding methods and normal filler material are forbidden. Cracks can arise which can impair performance in a collision.


To remove


1. Remove Roof, 5D .

2. Remove Part of side plate, 5D .

3. Drill out the spot-welds on the outside.


4. Drill out the spot-welds in the luggage compartment.


5. Drill out the spot welds from the rear roof member and longitudinal member.


6. If the rear bumper abutment is not damaged : Drill out the spot welds from the rear bumper abutment. Grind away the MIG brazing.


7. Knock loose the D-pillar.

8. Align any deformed sheet metal or panels.


To fit


1. Drill holes for plug welding in the spare part and on the body.

2. Grind all surfaces to be welded on the spare part and body.

3. Apply welding primer on the surfaces to be welded. Use Teroson Zink Spray.

4. Position the spare part and secure it with a few welding clamps. Measure the precise position of the D-pillar using the alignment jig measurement system and body dimensions in Body dimensions, 4D, 5D .

5. Spot and plug weld on the spare part.


6. Spot and plug weld on the spare part.


7. If the rear bumper abutment is damaged : Spot weld as illustrated.

8. MIG braze as illustrated.


9. Grind the welds.

10. Fit Roof, 5D .

11. Fit Part of side plate, 5D .
