Brake Light/Brake Pedal Switch Plausibility Error

Fault symptom

Cruise control not working.

On-board diagnosis

Type of diagnosis:

Continuous

Enable criteria:

Battery voltage must be between 10 - 18 V.
Engine running.

Fault criteria:

Switches have the same status for 1 seconds when the vehicle brakes/accelerates (2.6 m/s2).

System reaction to a fault:

Cruise control switched off.

Fault handling:

Type III

Checking the wiring harness

Move the wiring harness at several spots and in several directions to reveal intermittent breaks and short-circuits. Check switches, connectors and crimp connections for oxidation, retracted pins and pin clamping force.

Diagnostic help

Electrical fault in connecting leads or component.
Improperly fitted switch.
