| 1. |
Raise the car and remove the front right wheel.
|

| 2. |
Remove the right wing liner (A).

Chassis reinforcement, front subframe, CV, Z19DTH/DTR, A20NFT/LHU

| 3. |
Relieve the belt tensioner with
EN-6151 Chuck wrench
and remove the belt (A). Mark the direction of rotation on the belt.
|
|
| 4. |
Remove the belt tensioner (B).
|
|
| 5. |
Lower the car and remove the upper engine cover.
|
|
| 6. |
Remove
Air cleaner, A20NFT/LHU
.
|
|
| 7. |
Remove
Heat shield, turbo A20NFT/LHU
.
|
|
| 8. |
Fit
83 94 850 Lifting beam
and
83 95 287 Holder
. Take the weight off the engine and remove the bolts (A) in the engine bracket.
|
|
| 9. |
Lower the engine about 3 cm using the lifting beam.
|
|
| 10. |
Raise the car and remove the crankshaft pulley (A) using EN-956-1 Tool extender and
EN-47981 Balance weight holder for crankshaft
.

|
| 11. |
Place a receptacle under the car to collect any oil and carefully remove the timing cover screws (B).
|
|
| 12. |
Cut off the part of the timing cover gasket that goes round the engine mounting and remove the gasket.
|
|
| 13. |
Remove the crankshaft seal.
|
|
| To fit |
| 1. |
Clean all the sealing surfaces.
|
|
| 2. |
Cut off the part of the gasket (A) that is round the engine mounting and position the new timing cover gasket.
|
|
| 3. |
Fit the timing cover screws (A).
Tightening torque 25 Nm (18 lbf ft) 
|
|
| 4. |
Position the
83 96 202 Fitting tools, front crankshaft seal
protective collar on the crankshaft B). Lubricate the new sealing ring with
Vaseline, non-acidic
and position it on the fitting tool.
|
|
| 5. |
Position the fitting tool on the crankshaft. Tighten the sealing ring (C) using the crankshaft pulley bolt until it is flush with the timing cover. Remove the tool.
|
|
| 6. |
Fit the crankshaft pulley (A) with a new screw. Use EN-956-1 Tool extender, and
EN-47981 Balance weight holder for crankshaft
.
Tightening torque: 150 Nm + 100° (111 lbf ft + 100°) |
|
| 7. |
Lower the car and raise the engine with the lifting beam until it rests against the engine mounting.
|
|
| 8. |
Fit the bolts (A) to the engine bracket. Remove
83 94 850 Lifting beam
with holder.
Tightening torque, bolts to body 50 Nm + 180° (37 lbf ft + 180 °) Tightening torque, bolts to bracket 45 Nm + 90° (33 lbf ft + 90 °)

Fit
Heat shield, turbo A20NFT/LHU
.

|
| 10. |
Fit
Air cleaner, A20NFT/LHU.
|
|
| 11. |
Fit the upper engine cover.
|
|
| 12. |
Raise the car and fit the belt tensioner (B).
Tightening torque 45 Nm (33 lbf ft).
|
|
| 13. |
Relieve the tension on the belt tensioner with
EN-6151 Chuck wrench
and fit the belt (A) as per the direction of rotation indicated. Check that the belt is seated correctly across all pulleys.

Lower the car slightly and fit the right wing liner (A).
|

| 15. |
Fit the front right wheel. See
Wheels
.

|
| 16. |
Lower the car completely.
|
|
| 17. |
Check engine oil level. Top up as necessary.
