Remove the protective housing from the alternator.

Remove the voltage regulator.
|
|
The alternator brushes are fixed to the voltage regulator. The whole unit must be replaced with a new one.

Carefully straighten the spring tab so that it lies against the voltage regulator. Clean and apply a thin coating of Vaseline to avoid oxidation.

| 2. |
Clean the ground connection on the regulator and apply Vaseline.
|
|
| 3. |
Refit the voltage regulator.
|
|
| 4. |
Refit the protective housing on to the alternator.
|
|
