Resetting of the transmission's adaption
|
Resetting of the transmission's adaption is a procedure for automatic transmissions where the configured values for shifting pressure are reset to zero or a calibrated default value in the transmission control module (TCM).
Once the transmission adaption has been set to zero or a calibrated default value, the vehicle must be road tested under certain driving cycles for the TCM to relearn the optimum shifting pressure in all shifting positions.
Resetting of the transmission's adaption must be performed after one of the following measures has been taken. Failure to perform this procedure can lead to poor shifting quality, setting of diagnostic trouble codes or dissatisfied customers.

All work relating to problems with shifting quality

1.

Assemble all components and connections that were dismantled during fault diagnosis.
|
|
2.
|
Make the adjustments, programming or installation processes necessary after a component or module has been dismantled or replaced.
|
|
3.
|
Clear diagnostic trouble codes.
|
|
4.
|
Ignition OFF, all vehicle systems OFF. It can take up to 2 minutes for all vehicle systems to be deenergized.

Ignition ON, engine running, reset the transmission's adaption using the scan tool.
|
|
7.
|
Ignition OFF for 2 minutes.
