The mounting of the control module is directionally dependent. The Supplementary Restraint System (SRS) will not work if the control module is fitted incorrectly.
When fitting a replacement control module it must first be programmed to ensure that it will work properly, see Programming SRS control modules . Carry out programming with a diagnostic tool using the ”Programming” function as described below.

Fit the control module in place. Check that the arrow on it is pointing to the front.

Tighten the 3 control module retaining nuts.
|

Plug in the control module's connector.
|

New control module:

Connect the diagnostic tool to the diagnostic socket under the dashboard.
|

Select the car and model year in question on the diagnostic tool.
|

Advance to the SRS catalogue and select programming.
|

Read off the configuration for the control module with respect to the passenger side airbag.

If needed, adjust settings. Following correct programming, the values will be locked into the control module and cannot be changed.

Turn on the ignition and check the SRS system and control module with the diagnostic tool as follows:
Connect the diagnostic tool to the diagnostic socket under the dashboard. Delete any trouble codes. Switch off the ignition and switch it on again. Wait at least 10 minutes with the ignition switched on. Check whether a diagnostic trouble code is displayed: If a diagnostic trouble code is displayed: Carry out fault diagnosis in accordance with the directions given for each DTC. If no diagnostic trouble code is displayed: Fitting completed correctly. Disconnect the diagnostic tool. |
