Symptom: Parking heater fails to start.

Fault symptom

Parking heater fails to start.

Condition

Parking heater activated.

Diagnostic help

Parking heater can be activated with Tech 2.

Parking heater function can be programmed in SID.

Eberspächer diagnostics instrument used for diagnosis.

Diagnostic procedure




1. Check fuse


Check that the heater fuse is intact.


Test results OK?

YES


- Go to point 2.



NO


- Change the fuse.

- Go to point 7.



2. Check power supply



Unplug connector B1.

Connect Eberspächer diagnostics instrument.

The illustration above should be shown in the diagnostics instrument display.


Test results OK?

YES


- Go to point 3.



NO


- Check that the heater is supplied with current.

- Go to point 6.



3. Check activation



Connect Tech 2 diagnostics instrument.

Contact: SID.

Activate parking heater (ON).

The illustration above should be shown in the diagnostics instrument display.


Test results OK?

YES


- Activate Eberspächer diagnostics instrument.

- Make a note of all diagnostic trouble codes.

- Deal with the diagnostic trouble codes generated as described in the diagnostic procedure for each of them.

- Go to point 6.



NO


- Go to point 4.



4. Check relay



Check that the heater relay is intact.


Test results OK?

YES


- Go to point 5.



NO


- Change the relay.

- Go to point 6.



5. Check wiring



Check that there is no open circuit in the lead between pin 6 (B1) and pin 19 (SID).


Test results OK?

YES


- Go to point 6.



NO


- Repair or replace the lead.

- Go to point 6.



6. Final check



Delete DTCs in all systems.

Contact: SID.

Activate parking heater (ON).

Perform a functionality check.

Evaluate the functionality check.

Check that the diagnostic trouble code has not recurred.


Test results OK?

YES


- Fault rectified successfully.



NO


- See ’Procedure for replacement of control module’.
