Luggage compartment lighting

Luggage compartment lighting

The luggage compartment lighting is turned on/off when the boot lid is opened and closed respectively.

If the ignition switch is in the OFF position (+15 and +54) or the key has been removed, and the lid is opened, the luggage compartment light will remain on for 20 minutes and then switches off automatically.

If the ignition switch is in the ON position (+15 and +54) and the lid is opened, the luggage compartment light will remain on until the lid is closed again.

The +30 power supply to the luggage compartment lighting goes via fuse 8 and DICE pin 24. The control module checks the function together with TWICE.

When the luggage compartment lid is opened a light switch (56) in the lock of the lid will close. The switch is connected to TWICE, which detects whether the lid is open or closed.

TWICE puts information on the status of the lid (OPEN/CLOSED) onto the bus, and DICE receives it. If the lid is open, power goes from pin 2 on DICE to the lamp (55). If the switch on the luggage compartment lamp has not closed, the lamp will not light up, irrespective of the status of the lid according to TWICE.

When the ignition switch is in the ON position an open luggage compartment lid is indicated on the main instrument panel, which receives a command to light the indication from the bus.

Diagnosis

The output is provided with overload protection which shuts it off in the vent of an excessive load. When this occurs, diagnostic trouble code B1235 will be generated.

DTCs are not generated if the voltage is below 11 V or during diagnostic communication.
