Activate Description Use
Recirculation Flap

Processor control of transistors that alternately reverse polarity in the circuit.

Note:

Output active for approx. 10s.

Checking control module output, electric circuitry and actuator function. When the output is active, the air recirculation flap should go to its end position. Otherwise, use a test lamp to find the defective lead/component.

Heat exchanger

Processor control of transistor that grounds the circuit.

Checking control module output, electric circuitry and actuator function. When the output is active, the electromagnetic clutch should engage. Otherwise, use a test lamp to find the defective lead/component.

Circulation Pump

Processor control of transistor that grounds the circuit.

Checking control module output, electric circuitry and actuator function. When the output is active, the pump should be heard. Otherwise, use a test lamp to find the defective lead/component.

Air Distribution Motor

Processor control of transistors that alternately reverse circuit polarity to respective winding. When the requested position is reached, one of the windings is fed continuously to lock the motor.

Checking control module output, electric circuitry and actuator function. When the output is active, the flap should attain the correct position on condition that calibration has first been performed. Otherwise, use a test lamp to find the defective lead/component.

Note:

The control module output is active only until the control module believes the correct position has been reached. To activate it for a longer period of time between its end positions, running the calibration function is instead recommended (approx. 30 s).

Left Heater Flap Motor

Processor control of transistors that alternately reverse circuit polarity to respective winding. When the requested position is reached, one of the windings is fed continuously to lock the motor.

Checking control module output, electric circuitry and actuator function. When the output is active, the flap should attain the correct position on condition that calibration has first been performed. Otherwise, use a test lamp to find the defective lead/component.

Note:

The control module output is active only until the control module believes the correct position has been reached. To activate it for a longer period of time between its end positions, running the calibration function is instead recommended (approx. 30 s).

Right Heater Flap Motor

Processor control of transistors that alternately reverse circuit polarity to respective winding. When the requested position is reached, one of the windings is fed continuously to lock the motor.

Checking control module output, electric circuitry and actuator function. When the output is active, the flap should attain the correct position on condition that calibration has first been performed. Otherwise, use a test lamp to find the defective lead/component.

Note:

The control module output is active only until the control module believes the correct position has been reached. To activate it for a longer period of time between its end positions, running the calibration function is instead recommended (approx. 30 s).

Display and Bulb Test

Processor control of transistors that activate lamps for the push-buttons and the display as well as the display LCD elements.

Checking lamps, display and control module.

Fan Control Voltage

Processor control of the analogue output for the fan control unit.

Checking control module output, electric circuitry and actuator function. When the output is active, the fan control unit should increase current to the fan. Otherwise, use a test lamp to find the defective lead/component.

Note:

When diagnosing malfunctions, it can be more useful to read the regulating voltage rather than activate it as it can be easily activated from the panel. Remember that the fan current is limited until the engine has started.

New Ambient Temperature Value

The outside temperature used internally by the control module is set to 20°C.

When diagnosing malfunctions in the A/C when the outside temperature is below 5°C , this function must be activated so that the ACC requests A/C. This applies even if the car is being run in warm premises.

The vehicle speed must exceed 30 km/h for the ACC to allow the outside temperature to rise. The function is activated after the car has been driven into premises where the temperature exceeds 5°C.
