When the fault criteria have been met, a DTC will be generated and the check engine lamp will be turned on if the DTC function says so.
The check engine lamp is turned on in the third driving cycle after the fault has been detected if the fault is still active.
The check engine lamp is extinguished as soon as the control module has detected that the fault is no longer present.
The DTC will be cleared if 40 ignition cycles with afterrunning have been carried out without the fault returning during any of them.
To fully clear a DTC, the afterrunning must have expired after clearing the code.
