Power steering pump, V6 diesel engine

To remove

Important

Scrupulous cleanliness must always be observed when carrying out any work involving hydraulic components.



1. Remove the intake manifold.


2. Remove the engine cover.

3. Raise the car.

4. Remove the front right wheel.

5. Remove the lower engine cover.


6. Cars with xenon headlamps: Remove the level sensor.


7. Remove the right-hand cover.


8. Detension and remove the multigroove V-belt.


9. Lower the car to the floor.

10. Clamp the pump hoses with two pairs of pinch-off pliers.


11. Place a receptacle under the car.

12. Cover the A/C compressor pulley to avoid getting oil on it.

Important

Power steering fluid must not come in contact with the belt pulley or belt.


13. Remove the supply hose from the pump and lift up the hose. Mop up any oil with a rag.


14. Remove the bolt securing the delivery pipe bracket.

15. Undo the delivery pipe banjo nipple. Mop up any oil with a rag.

16. Remove the pump and empty the oil into the receptacle.


To fit


1. Fit the pump to the bracket.

Tightening torque: 24 Nm (17.8 lbf ft).


2. Fit the banjo nipple using new seals.

Tightening torque: 30 Nm (22.2 lbf ft).

3. Fit the bolt securing the pipe bracket.

4. Connect the supply hose.

5. Carefully mop up any spilt fluid.

6. Remove the pinch-off pliers.


7. Raise the car.

8. Fit the multigroove V-belt.


9. Fit the side cover.


10. Cars with xenon headlamps: Fit the level sensor.


11. Fit the lower engine cover.


12. Fit the wheel, see Wheels .

Tightening torque 110 Nm (81 lbf ft)

13. Lower the car to the floor.

14. Fit the turbo intake pipe.


15. Fit the engine cover.

16. Top up with fluid and bleed as described under Bleeding the power steering system .

17. Check for leakage around the connectors on the pump.

18. Road test.
