Side windows in front doors

To remove

1. Lower the window.

2. Open the door and remove the cover around the window frame.

3. Remove the door trim.

4. Carefully remove the water separator.

5. Loosen the door mirror retaining screws slightly so that the weatherstrip can easily be removed. Then remove the outer weatherstrip against the window that is secured by one screw at the rear end.

6. Lower the window lift so that the mounting is visible at the top of the lower large hole. The clips on the rollers are then easily accessible.

7. Detach the scissor-lift braces from the window mounting by removing the clips and then prising loose the braces from the rollers with a large flat chisel. Prise between the brace and the rail and close to the ball so the brace is not deformed.

8. Lift out the window by tilting up the back edge.

To fit

1. Transfer the scissors-lift rollers to the new window glass, checking at the same time that they are intact and undamaged.

2. Grease the rollers and sliding surfaces.

3. Fit the clips to the rollers.

4. Lift in the window by tilting down the front. Guide the window into the front guide rail. Tilt it back and guide it into the rear guide rail.

5. Press the scissor-lift brace into the window mounting rollers.

Note

A double click should be heard.

6. If necessary, adjust the window.

7. Fit the new weatherstrip against the window.

8. Tighten the door mirror retaining screws.

9. Check that the window lift functions correctly.

10. Fit the water separator.

Important

Make sure the water separator has not been damaged and that it seals the interior door panel properly.

11. Refit the door trim and the cover around the window frame.

12. Polish the window.
