Symptom: Coolant leakage from the preheated crankcase ventilation. The leakage could cause the shaft for the swirl valves to bind which illuminates the CHECK ENGINE lamp, as well as generating diagnostic trouble code P1109.

In cars with engine alternative Z19 prior to Vehicle Identification Number 63506460 the small return line for the crankcase ventilation could be subject to coolant leakage due to a deficient hose clip. An improved hose clip has been introduced following the above Vehicle Identification Number.The hose clip could leak both when the engine is cold and when it is at operating temperature. The leakage is visible adjacent to the lower section of the engine's intake manifold.
