Saab 9-5 M07-08 within the Vehicle Identification Number range 73507538-83505366 with engine alternative B205 or B235.

Note

Background

In connection with the replacement of the surface treatment on the end plate's bolts these bolts have been inadequately tightened.

Symptom description

Oil leakage between engine and gearbox is detected under the car.



Parts required

55 560 366 Bolt (x3/car)

For fitting the modification identity plate (not US/CA):

12 785 148 Modification identity plate

Checking the modification identity plate (not US/CA)

Before proceeding, check box B3 of the modification identity plate. From and including M04 the car's Warranty and Service Book contains the "Table of Modifications". A modification identity plate must be fitted in accordance with the section "Fitting the modification identity plate" where local directives require the marking of the car. If the box is not marked, continue as follows.

Procedure



1. Replace the upper bolts (A) for the end plate, one at a time.

Hold the cable (B) out of the way so that it is not damaged when the inner bolt is replaced.

Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7 lbf ft)

Note

Only replace one bolt at a time.


2. Raise the car.

3. Clean and remove any traces of the leakage between the engine and gearbox.

4. Lower the car.


Marking the modification identity plate (not US/CA)

After carrying out the procedure, box B3 on the modification identity plate must be marked. From and including M04 there is the table "Table of Modifications" in the car's Warranty and Service Book. Mark the box with the number "7" if the procedure was carried out by the importer or with the number "8" if carried out by the dealer.
