A modification identity plate must be fitted in accordance with the section "Fitting the modification identity plate" where local directives require the marking of the car. If the box is not marked, continue as follows.

Procedure

1. Turn the ignition key to the OFF position.

2. Remove the screws (A) in the left-hand rear wheel housing and pull out the casing (B).

3. Clean the connector housing H6-1, unplug the connector and pull it out.

4. Insert a plastic wedge between the lamp and the bumper.

5. Clean the connector housing H6-1.

6. Mark the cables with the connector housing's (H6-1) position number and prise out the cable terminals. Use the extraction tool from the kit 85 80 151.

7. Cut the cable terminals away from the wiring harness. Cut as close to the cable terminals as possible.

8. Fit the seals and cable terminals:

For instructions on repairing the wiring harness, see WIS - Electrical system - Wiring harness - Adjustment/Replacement.

- Guide the seals (16- 302 38 92) up, with the thick section first, slightly above the cable insulation.

- Fit new cable terminals (127 897 94). Use the green pliers (86 12 038).

- Guide the thin section of the seal down over the cable terminal and the wire strands. The thick section of the seal must be fitted over the upper section of the cable terminal and the cable insulation.

9. Fit the cable terminals, according to marked position numbers, in connector housing H6-1.

Check that the cable terminals lock and the seals are firmly in contact with the connector housing.

10. As required: Clean the pins in the bumper's connector housing from corrosion, use Contact 61.

11. Spray the contact surfaces in connector housing H6-1 using Contact 61 and plug it in.

12. 5D: Remove the plastic wedge.

13. Insert the casing (A) fit the screws (B).

14. Carry out a check of SPA function:

- Turn the ignition key to the ON position.

- Engage reverse gear.

- Check that the message "PARK.ASSIST FAILURE" is not shown in the SID.

Marking the modification identity plate (not US/CA)

Mark the box with the number "7" if the procedure was carried out by the importer or with the number "8" if carried out by the dealer.
