Control module

Control module

The main instrument display is a complete unit with only the front glass replaceable separately.

The main instrument unit has a 32-pin connector.

The control module receives information from its own sensors and contacts and from other systems. The control module processes and uses the information to control the instrument and LEDs. Certain data is sent out on the buses.

The main instrument unit has an information display which is divided in two sections, one for symbols and one for text information. The information display is used by the SID control module to show text messages. The SID control module sends the text messages on the I-bus to the main instrument unit.

On faults the control module stores the trouble codes. When replaced, the new control module must be programmed for parts and immobiliser. The distance travelled by the car, which is stored in the old control module and shown on the display, must be programmed into the new control module.

The instrument unit contains gauges which are controlled by the control module itself with information from other systems and its own sensors. Warning and indicator lamps are controlled by both the own sensors/contacts and other system control modules. All warning, indicator and illumination lamps are LEDs and are not replaceable.

The odometer and trip meter are shown on the information display and comprise two number registers: a six digit to display the odometer value and a four digit to display the trip meter value.

The main instrument unit control module stores the distance travelled and shows the distance on the information display.

Diagnosis

If an internal fault occurs in the main instrument unit's control module, diagnostic trouble code B1605 is set.
