Theft protection functions theft alarm and immobilization are incorporated in TWICE and are controlled by the control module in the system. See TWICE for further information.
The main function of the control module is to continuously check the status of the sensors when the alarm is enabled and to sound an alarm with the siren (or horn in certain markets from and incl. chassis No. 43013162) and/or direction indicators in a theft situation. It also prevents starting of the car through immobilization.
In the control module there is a processor which has a fixed control programme stored in a PROM (Programmable Read Only Memory). The PROM can be programmed according to the special theft protection functions which different markets require. Programming also allows a number of possibilities for changing the functions to suit the customer's wishes.
The programming is effected using Tech 2 and the information is stored in an EEPROM (Electrically Erasable PROM). Any previous programme is simultaneously erased. A stored programme is not lost if the power supply fails.
