Lift up the electrical centre.

| 2. |
Engage 4th gear.
|
|
| 3. |
Remove the plastic plug from the gearbox and insert
87 92 335 Locking pin
so that the 4th gear is locked.

| 4. |
Undo the linkage attachment at the engine mount.
|
|
| 5. |
Undo the selector rod attachment clamp.
|
|
| 6. |
Undo the connection to the gearbox.
|
|
| 7. |
Remove the linkage and the washer.
|
|
| In-car assembly |
| 1. |
Fit the washer and linkage to the gearbox and also to the selector rod, do not tighten the selector rod clamp. Tighten the bolt to the gearbox. Use
74 96 268 Thread locking adhesive
.
Tightening torque: 20 Nm (15 lbf ft) |

| 2. |
Fit the bolts attaching the linkage to the engine mount. Apply
74 96 292 Thread locking adhesive
to the bolts and tighten.
Tightening torque: 8 Nm (6 lbf ft) |

| 3. |
Engage 4th gear.
|
|
| 4. |
Lift up the gear lever boot. Position the gear lever in 4th gear and lock the selector rod with
87 92 632 Locking pin
|
|
| 5. |
Tighten the selector rod attachment clamp.
Tightening torque 22 Nm (16 lbf ft) |
|
| 6. |
Remove the locking pin.
|
|
| 7. |
Fit the plastic plug.
|
|
| 8. |
Remove the locking pin from the gear lever housing and replace the gaiter.
|
|
| 9. |
Fit the electrical centre.
|
|
| 10. |
Check that all gears can be engaged and that the key can be removed when in reverse.
