Bonnet

Bonnet

The bonnet locking mechanism consists of two spring locks located in the radiator member that lock onto two spring-loaded locking pins on the bonnet when it is closed.

When the bonnet lock is released, the front of the bonnet rises. The bonnet can then be opened by releasing a catch. The catch is located just right of centre on the bonnet.

The bonnet has two gas springs that keep it in its open position. The gas springs are located along the front wings, one on each side, and are fitted with ballpins to the bodywork and the bonnet.

The double-knuckled hinges are lubrication-free and fitted to the body and bonnet in such a way as to allow adjustment.

The bonnet lock is operated by a wire from the bonnet release lever on the left-hand side of the cabin under the dashboard on LHD cars and on the right-hand side on RHD cars.
