Air distribution

Air distribution

The distribution of air is common for the driver and passenger zones and is accomplished by means of a double air distribution flap in the front and a single flap in the rear of the cabin.

A stepping motor regulates the air distribution flaps in the front and via a link arm also the rear air distribution flap.

The air from the climate unit is directed with the air distribution flap to the defroster, panel or floor outlets. The controls can also be set to positions between the three main positions. Air is then distributed between the defroster and panel or between the panel and floor.

Air is directed from the air distribution flaps via a number of air ducts to various outlets distributed in the cabin.

Defroster position

Air is directed to the outlets on top of the dashboard and to the front side window defroster outlets.

There are four defroster outlets. Two of them direct air to the windscreen and two smaller outlets, one on each side of the dashboard, direct air to the front side windows.

Panel position

Air is directed to the outlets in the dashboard and to the rear of the centre console.

Four outlets are located on the dashboard. They are individually regulated and the air direction can be adjusted both vertically and horizontally. The air volume is continuously adjustable.

On the rear of the centre console are two outlets for the rear seat passengers. They are individually regulated and the air direction can be adjusted as can the air volume.

Floor position

Air is directed to the air outlets under the dashboard, under the front seats to the rear floor ducts and to the B-pillar duct for the rear side windows.

At the same time, a small amount of air flows to the defroster outlets. For effective de-misting of the rear side windows, a position between defroster and floor should be selected.

Four outlets are directed at the floor, two of which lead beneath the dashboard and direct air to the floor for the driver and passenger. Two outlets lead under the front seats and direct air to the floor for the rear seat.
