Replacing the regulator with generator brush

In the method described below, the generator has already been removed.

1.

Undo three screws to remove the protective cover on the generator. Lift off the cover.
|

2.

Undo the two screws holding the regulator and pull it upwards.
|
The generator brushes are fixed to the regulator. The whole unit must be replaced with a new one.

Carefully straighten the spring tab so that it is in contact with the regulator. Clean and apply a thin layer of Vaseline to prevent oxidization.

2.
|
Clean the ground connection on the regulator and apply Vaseline.
|
|
4.
|
Refit the protective housing on to the generator.
|
|
5.
|
During replacement: check the battery, refer to "Battery check" and charge the battery if necessary, see "Charging the battery".
